Red Rock Day School

Home of the Wildcats!

Red Rock Day School is a safe and healthy learning environment serving the educational needs of kindergarten through eighth-grade students. Our school is committed to seeing every student achieve their maximum potential. We prepare every student for high school, college, and beyond. Red Rock Day School’s educational program introduces today’s students to classroom learning and supports them as they become tomorrow’s critical thinkers and community leaders.

We recognize that the 21st-century global communities must care for, respect, and share Mother Earth's resources. Our vision is to create a school community where young scholars develop life skills that lead to better-quality lives. All current and future technologies are integral to our school curriculum, and students learn to preserve and celebrate their Navajo language, culture, and values.

The mission of our specialized curriculum is to teach valuable, necessary life skills that lead to a successful future. Dedicated faculty and staff create a safe, student-centered learning community using a rigorous academic curriculum integrated with Dine’ Cultural Standards. Our students learn to communicate effectively with other cultures while preparing for jobs of the future.

Our educational community encourages students and their families through physical, mental, cultural, and spiritual education. Red Rock Day School’s educators provide various learning initiatives, such as after-school support/tutoring, summer enrichment, sports, clubs and more. Our students’ success is made possible by the shared responsibility of our staff, parents/guardians, and community members.

Social development issues are addressed as students learn to get along and be responsible with the school community. Students are engaged and taught in active learning through whole class, small group, and individual instruction. Through Red Rock Day School’s updated and rigorous curriculum, students can become positive, productive citizens in the future.

Strategic Transformation of Education Plan (STEP)

Red Rock Day School has implemented the Strategic Transformation of Education Plan initiative – a digital learning portal with a blended learning approach. Our students can maximize this opportunity by accessing the digital learning portal with a 1:1 student-laptop usage ratio. This approach gives our students every advantage with integrated applications, such as personalized and assessment-based math and reading curriculum, Native language and culture educational programs, and accelerated learning strategies for our tailored instruction. Every one of our students benefits from dynamic teaching tools that use state-of-the-art resources. Red Rock Day School's team of dedicated educators is committed to the growth and development of your children - tomorrow's leaders.

Principal's Message

Students, Parents, Stakeholders and Staff:

We look forward to partnering with you, your child, and your community on those needs that are most important to you. School connections are so important for your child’s well-being, and our teachers and support staff are here to help. Please reach out if you require assistance with any school concern, and we will do all we can to support your child.

We offer continuous educational development for children enrolled in our school all year. We are grateful to provide a strong partnership between you, your child and the classroom teacher. Our school has a strategic partnership with IHS staff, Dine´ Youth, and various outside service providers to support our students’ physical and emotional development at school. They are an added benefit to our school, as they help focus on your child’s health and well-being. We are offering technology/hardware support, school supplies, NASIS Parent Portal, school website, gifted and talented program, honor roll, perfect attendance, fall and spring sports, STEM, science fair, Navajo language and culture, and social-emotional learning!

We continuously work to improve our educational environment, and teachers and support staff attend training to support their professional development. We use school-wide NWEA and I-Ready data to determine student academic needs. Each grade level has developed SMART goals for each content area to focus/create targeted instruction. This is to support statewide assessments: WIDA, NAVVY, PARCC, STAR Reading and AIMS Science.

We are excited that your family has chosen our school to meet your educational needs. Support your child by attending the three scheduled parent/student/teacher conferences throughout the school year. Please look on our website for a listing of school events.

Our staff is committed to supporting your child in accomplishing their educational goals – part of that is having your child attend school daily.  We are honored to walk alongside your family and community to create partnerships that will meet the strategic needs of our school!

Warmest regards,

Dr. Jeannie Kee-Parsons, Principal
